MERRY CHRISTMAS HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It really has been a long time since I last posted! I really can't believe Christmas is over and it is almost 2009! Wow, where does the time go? We had such a great Christmas with the kids home and my mom and dad here - it was a little crowded at times with 11 people in the house for a week but a lot of fun! Lots of memories were made and good times talking about the "good old days" :-) and making great memories for 2 little grandsons. They are so much fun!

The pictures are of our kids and grandkids. It has been a tradition to take pictures every year by the Christmas tree. I only wish I was organized enough to have them all in one place to look at them to see how much everyone has changed instead of in a box in a drawer :-( . Someday I will put that on my list of things to do. :-)

Some of my favorite pictures and memories are of the kids looking at the nativity set and rearranging the figures and telling the story in their own words. Christmas REALLY IS my favorite time of the year!

I got so many projects done for Christmas, it really was fun! I cleaned the kids rooms and cut apart some of their t-shirts and turned them into woven rugs. they really enjoyed seeing their favorite shirts made into something useful again. It did put smiles on their faces :-) as it reminded them of times past. In some ways it was sad to take the Christmas tree down today but know that it is time to get ready for the new year and new projects to start and finish a few of the unfinished ones.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

whirlwind fall!! BEAUTIFULL!

This has been such a busy fall. We have had company for 2 weeks-my folks were here for a little over a week then my son and family (with grandkids :-) ) and Nick from Boston. It WAS a lot of fun having everyone here. I actually got a lot of things done outside when having the grandkids here and watching them. Even got some windows washed and flowers and bulbs planted!

now with everyone back at home, I can get back to knitting and catching up in the shop. BUT it was so nice having everyone here. I hope the pictures load on this blog (my computer is so slow!) Living on the farm of course things break down more than you would like but it was so cute to see Lucas and Matthew try to help grandpa fix the chopper :-) they are big helpers and they love being on the farm. At one point I was looking around for them and they were on the barn floor jumping down a stack of hay and having fun doing it!! It makes me miss the time when my kids were little. Have to smile. I do like them the ages they are now, tho.
The top photo is our early morning coffee time on the porch. I am going to miss this when the weather gets colder. It is such a beautiful, quiet spot. Well, back to work. Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall day.

busy fall

It has been a long time since I entered anything on my blog. It has been a crazy month-but fun. A lot of changes-my oldest son and family (my 2 little grandsons :-( ) moved 1hour 45 minutes north of here. we will really miss seeing them as often!! But at least it wasn't across the country like some grandparents' kids move.

I finally finished my newsletter with new class schedule. www.bahrcreek.com then click on newsletter link. In addition to the classes listed there will be a new class, which isn't listed in the newsletter - toe up socks -watch for the time and date of the class. There are still openings for the classes listed.

I hope everyone is enjoying the crisp fall weather. I LOVE this season!! We are going to visit our son in Door County this Sunday and will enjoy seeing the colorful leaves!

Beautiful Creation!!!

As I was at the kitchen table, I saw this beautiful butterfly on my cone flower! I also noticed a hummingbird at them also, but couldn't get a picture of him :-( . I absolutely LOVE this time of year (spring, also!!-actually I LOVE all the seasons-guess that is a good thing I live in Wisconsin :-)). God is so good to us to allow us to view all his creations!

Feels like Christmas in the studio!!

I have seen most of my yarn reps for the fall and winter yarns and supplies!! Now the beautiful yarns start arriving and I must find room on the shelves for all the BEAUTIFUL yarns. And of course I want to use it all and make something from every yarn!!! :-(
Some of the new yarns are Rowan Kaffe Fassett colourscape chunky and the ever popular Regia design line sock yarn by Kaffe Fassett in more new colorways.
From Knit One Crochet Too I received new merino/bamboo blends-this would make beautiful sweaters or shawls and the ever popular Alpaca yarn -fingering weight for shawls and scarves. These yarns makes me want to spend all my time knitting!!! And I don't even consider myself THE knitter!!
I am working on my newsletter for the fall/winter schedule so check back often for available classes.

Flat Feet sock of the month

This week fall seemed to be in the air but summer is not giving up yet :-) but is still is not to early to start thinking about making socks!!
Flat Feet by Conjoined Creations sock of the month club has arrived. Each shop that has signed up to do the "sock of the month" receives 8 pair of socks for that month. This month the sock yarn is in fall colorways and each sock is unique & different and no two colors/pairs will be exactly the same. It is recommended you use a size 2 or 3 needle for knitting the socks. This makes a very portable/fun project for taking along to bring kids back to school.
I can't believe it is almost time for school to begin! I take my son, Daniel back on Saturday. WOW, time just goes way toooooooo fast!!
In my last post we were headed to Wisconsin State Fair! Daniel did really GREAT!! He was even interviewed by Gus Gonorski from channel 6 TV. He did a great job on the interview and even got quite a compliment from his older brother who is an announcer on the radio. Daniel won Grand plus Reserve Grand for 2 of his llamas. He showed 5 llamas at the fair. He was VERY busy!!
well, enough updates for now.
hope you have a very good Sunday and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Crystal Lake Fiber and Folk art Fair

I found this quote on the Kettle Lakes Coop website and HOW TRUE!!!!!

"Buying the right computer and getting it to work properly is no more complicated than building a nuclear reactor from wristwatch parts in a darkened room using only your teeth."
~
Dave Barry, American Journalist and Comedian

this Saturday a few of us are going down to the Crystal Lake Arts Fair www.fiberandfolk.com/artmarket.htm ~ it sounds like a great event-hope you will get to go or take a look at the website to see what it all has to offer.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! Finally got pictures to load!

finally got pictures to load! Computers! sigh.........maybe it is the operator :-( have to say I don't have a lot of patience for computers-maybe that is why I don't post as often as I would like. It takes too much time. Anyway, if you would like to read about the yarn by Conjoined Creations, to this website: http://www.conjoinedcreations.com/Flat_Feet.html it is soooooo much fun!! the colors are totally awesome and no 2 alike. I have joined the "sock of the month club" so let me know if you are interested and I will save you a pair when they come in. It won't be starting until September. :-)
again, have a great Sunday!

YES!!! DENISE IS HOOKED ON SOCKS! FLAT FEET

Yes, Denise's first pair of socks and she can't put them down! Denise and her mom came all the way from Oconomowoc to open night knitting on Thursday! when listening to the news from Jefferson county fair about the severe weather, she just couldn't put her socks down and stood by the TV to watch while knitting!! Denise owns draft horses and they were to be shown at the fair by her kids. Some of the tents blew down because of the wind. No one was hurt!

(my computer is doing weird things this morning so couldn't post the picture :-( ) as soon as it behaves I will post it!

hope you all have a great Sunday!! the weather is absolutely perfect!

YES!!!! Denise is hooked on socks!!!!

KNITTING ON SIZE #0000 NEEDLES!! Not kidding!

I never thought I would EVER knit -let alone on a size #0000! Nancy, www.nancyalison.com taught us how to make the amulet bags this morning in class. They were/are a lot of fun but WOW it is hard to see the stitches and the beads. We use size 8 seed beads and 10/2 mercerized cotton thread. Nancy made the 5 bags shown on the right as sample for us to follow -it would take me the whole year to get that many done! Homework for the class this week is to get the entire bag done and when we get back to class next week we will work on stringing the beads for the necklace and the fringe. REALLY have to keep knitting!!! thanks, Nancy for a fun project!

Manos Sedona sweater

well, I am getting closer to completing my Sedona sweater!!!! It only has taken me 1 1/2 years to get this far! I only have 3/4 of a sleeve and piece it together then i will be able to wear it--YAY!!!! (I hope) It really was an easy pattern-it was done in shadow stitch using Manos color #119 (adobe) and #64 blue solid color. The pattern was taken from the book MANOS SIMPLE STYLE # 7. The body of the sweater has the vertical strips and sleeves are vertical. I will take a picture of it completed-hopefully within the next month :-).

computer fix :-) hope it makes you smile!

this is what i feel like today with the computer!@!!!!!! It does NOT want to do anything i want it to do!

I received this from a friend:

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Eric, the
11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission
Control and asked him to come over. Eric clicked a couple
of buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what
was wrong?

He replied, 'It was an 'ID ten T' error.'
I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless
inquired,

'An, 'ID ten T' error? What's that? In
case I need to fix it again.'
Eric grinned .... 'Haven't you ever heard of an
'ID ten T' error before?'
'No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think
you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down: 'I D 1 0 T'

I used to like Eric ............

Have a great Monday! the weather is PERFECT today

Kucas Making Lady into engineer!

Lady & Kelly are getting a little more at home here, although this week I had to take them into the vet to get them spayed! Talk about feeling terrible. they finally got to the point of trusting us, then had to drag them to the vet and make them feel terrible. I know it will get better but........ they will be really great pets! They really are mellow and it is fun to watch them together. When they see a cat, it is almost like they are planning on a mode of action to "get it" they look at each other and say "what do you think? shall we chase her?" then they both take off after the cat just to see it run! It will be almost a week since the trek to the vet and they are feeling a little better! Now a return trip to remove stitches! YUCK! don't know how I will get them there
:-(

Llamas & Ernie welcome Kelly & Lady into family

Llamas are very curious about the new arrivals! several even made their alarm calls to warn others of the new family members :-). they will adjust. Kelly and Lady the most mellow animals we have ever had!! We hadn't intended on getting 2 but they were sisters and looked like they couldn't be separated. so far we have had to coax them off the porch, into the house, and just about everything we wanted them to do. Guess it will take time for them to play like dogs. Ernie, even tho he is very old, LOVES to play fetch with the tennis ball and these girls I don't think have ever played :-(. It is really sad-they are so beautiful! It will take time to get adjusted.
well, so much has happened since I last blogged. Daniel came home from school and Kari came home to help for shearing days and open house then went back to Grand Rapids to work for the summer. Shearing days went really good and a good time was had by all who attended. I will post some pictures later of some of the new llama dews :-) and the cute angora goats brought by Kris of Colorfield Farms in Fredonia.
Well, I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Sunday!

sure sign of spring!!

These socks are made by Mary D. The socks are a kit by Skacel for Knit for the cure - Booby sock kit. it sells for $19.95 and each band on the sock deals with an aspect of mammogram. Mary says they were lots of fun to knit up and she is on her third pair! Mary is the speediest sock knitter I have ever known!

One of the neatest sign of spring is the arrival of the grosbeaks, Orioles, cardinals, gold finches, indigo buntings, and the many sparrows! I love feeding the birds and seeing them migrate through our yard! There is so much color under the feeder and on it! Yea... guess spring is finally here in spite of the weather. :-)

Now I wish it would just stop raining so the fields and pastures could dry out for planting and cleaning. There is just so much to do before open house and llama shearing day May 22-24.

take a look at http://www.bahrcreek.com/newsletter/BahrCreekSpring08.pdf for a schedule of shearing days. It will be fun days with lots of demonstrations.

Beautiful spring day!!

Wow, I Can't believe it has been over a week since I last posted on here. My parents were here for a visit last week then my daughter, Kari and her friend , and son Daniel came for the weekend. It was VERY busy but fun!

Today was a fun day with some euwww moments! My grandson was playing outside and I realized i hadn't seen him in a while so went out to look and found Ernie (our dog) just standing there . i tho't that weird so wnet to investigate and found lucas had walked into the runoff from the heifer barn! He was totally stuck in poop and mud!!! Poor kid!! he was stuck up to the knees! I couldn't pull him out w/o getting stuck myself so had to call his dad. Good thing for hoses outside!! Anyway, he loves telling everyone this story -only wish i had my camera! the adventures of farm life :-)!

On the cleaner side, i have been working on finishing up a Manos throw for one of my chix with stix. It turned out so awesome! I will post a picture of it as soon as it is off my camera.
The picture above are of some socks I have been working on using Regia-Kaffe Fassett Designer Line sock yarn! It is totally awesome and fun to work with! I just ordered and received a whole new shipment of it with scrumtious colorways for the shop. You will have to come check out the yarns!

Friday, April 11, 2008

These pictures show what I want things to look like outside. :-) instant summer or winter not the mud and slop between seasons~sort of like life at times. It is fun watching the birds pull out llama fiber from fences to make their nests.
It's Friday and very rainy and dreary AND super wet!! It is NO fun being here in the mud!
Well, it is a good day to knit, clean or put things away in the shop :-) ! OR make the house smell good by roasting a chicken -yummmmmmmmmmm!

Thursday, April 10, 2008

YAAAAAYYYYYYY it is Thursday-the best day of the week. Our knitting group meets every Thursday night from 6:30 - 9 or 10. We have anywhere from 10 - 25 gals that come. It is a time of refreshment, laughter, conversation..........and of course knitting! :-)

I had been trying to upload some pictures of projects i have been doing but because of weather or internet connections not able to. i will have to wait and do it when time permits.

This weekend we get to babysit for both grandkids while my son and daughter-in-law celebrate their anniversary.and go out of town. I sure hope it is nice for playing outside as
I went and bought the kids some rubber boots for playing outside! We have had soooo much rain and it is so muddy! but they will have a good time. Even if it was dry and there were no puddles for miles around - they would manage to find a puddle :-) but they do wash and it so much fun listening to them squeal with laughter. I will try to post some pictures of the weekend and some of my projects next time.
