I am sorry. I forgot to tell you where the Osthoff is. Elkhart Lake, Wi--we are praying for good weather as this is held in a huge tent! Weather like we have had this week would be perfect BUT this is Wisconsin and could expect anything :-).

OPEN HOUSE

Good morning, I feel so delinquent in writing posts :-(. It has been so busy with trying to get ready for our fall/Christmas open house and trying to make Santas and felted ornaments for the Osthoff Old World Christmas ( www.osthoff.com). This will be a 10 day show, December 4 - December 13. My friend from Michigan, Suzanne, will be here and she will be there most of the time during the week and I will join her on Sunday. Hope to see many of you there. Suzanne makes BEAUTIFUL felted hats!!

This Friday and Saturday is our open house from 10-5 Friday and 10-4 on Saturday. We will have refreshments and demonstrations in knitting, spinning, weaving, and needle felting. You may even make a llama cookie cutter ornament to take home. Hope to see here! Come check out new sock yarns by Crystal Palace, Knit One Crochet Too, Opal, Skacel. Also, come and check out the new Addi-Clicks. They are so awesome! If you just want to come and sit and knit...........and relax......would love to have you bring your project and pull up a chair and visit and work on your project.

Germany vacation

top left: view of Neuenschwanstein from Hohenswanstein castle.
middle: Bavarian city of Fussen, this town was only a matter of 25 minutes from Austrian border--we spent 2 days of WALKING!!! and many blisters!!! It was worth it!
The picture of the street is amazing to me as there were cars going both ways plus people all over. It seemed as though there were no rules of driving anywhere. LOVED this city!
My internet connection is the slowest in the world!! I am trying to upload some pictures of our vacation. This picture is overlooking the Alps and the village below from Neuenschwantstein Castle. It was so breathtaking!!!
It seems like ages ago. My cousin's daughter is leaving on Friday from her 21 day stay here and summer is almost over. Kari leaves for the Dominican Republic on August 4 for her orientation for her new job. She will be one of 3 kindergarten teachers in her school. Daniel is in Grand Rapids applying for jobs and looking at apartments for his Senior year at Cornerstone.
well, off to finish work and taking Jennifer out to an Italian pizza place :-). have a great day!

WOW! I can't believe it has been so long since I posted. So many things have happened since April. My daughter, Kari, graduated and we went on our trip to Germany and Austria. We had so much fun touring and visiting with family! It was 37 years since I visited there last and it was fun connecting with family. I am starting to save for my next trip to Germany only this time Mark, my husband will go along. :-)

We were gone 17 days and the shop survived with Mark and son, Daniel, working --they did a terrific job!
i will post some pictures of our trip soon.
Tomorrow I pick up my cousins daughter, from Germany, from O'Hare and she will stay with us for 21 days. She was so much fun in Germany-hope she has as much fun here as we did there.

well, off to work. Have a great day!

Mark Twain Quote~trip

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
~
Mark Twain

I found this quote on the Kettle Lakes Coop website. The last couple of weeks my daughter, Kari, and I have been thinking about a graduation trip to Europe after she is finished with school in May. There are so many reasons to not go but..................reading the quote above, I think we will just have to make plans. Since I still have family in Germany, part of the time we will spend with them and the other week we will do some sightseeing in Austria and Switzerland. I'll keep you posted as far as plans go.
have a great weekend and keep warm!

new classes using rigid heddle looms

Well, kids are all back in their respective "homes" and back at school. Daniel and Kari left yesterday~I never realized how much Kari's little Ford Focus could carry! The house is empty! I really didn't think everything would fit. Daniel came in with a smile on his face and said"well, everything is in, mom EXCEPT the rugs! and we want them along." the pictures above are the rugs i made for them using their favorite t-shirts. You know how you feel it is a good gift then as you are making it, these tho'ts come up that it is really a bad idea and they won't like it.............It really was fun to watch them open up their present and love it! They could identify each of the favorites. Before leaving, Daniel brought down a few more shirts I can cut up :-)
This got me to thinking it would make a great winter project class! so for the months of January, February, and March we will have destash and recycle months. You can schedule your own class using the rigid heddle looms or take one that is on the schedule already. Simply clean out drawers of t-shirts or old shirts and cut into 1 inch strips and weave away! It is also fun to use yarns that are left overs and weave scarves, runners, totes, etc. It is a great way to use up materials you have laying around the house, underbeds, hidden in drawers, etc............:-)

I am trying to get my newsletter on my website but am having trouble with that so if you would like to email me, I can send it to you with the new schedule. http://www.bahrcreek.com/
