new yarns, open house,what's new!!

Good morning, I hope everyone is staying safe with this storm warning or high winds! It is a good day to stay at home knitting on a Christmas project :-).

I have been busy trying to unpack new fall/winter yarns. Some of the new yarns arriving are:Malibrigo, Misty Alpaca Chunky handpaints, Deb McComber sock yarn(this is the most scrumptious super soft yarn I have ever seen!!!), Knit 1Crochet2, TyDy wool and new colors in the TyDy-Sock collection, Manos Del Uruguay silk/wool, new colors in Kaffe Fasset Colourscape. Come check out the clearance section of the shop! There are a lot of really nice yarns available!

watch for open house updates-keep November 18, 19, & 20th on your calendar. We will be having demonstrations and knit alongs and ideas for gift projects for Christmas. AND of course hot apple cider, and cookies for snacks! :-)

For the winter season of classes i will repeat the summer schedule. If there is a class or something you would like to learn how to do, simply give me a call and we will schedule a class for you. If there are several of your friends who would like to do the same things or just want a day of fun, give me a call or email. 5 or more and you will receive your class fee free.

Well, stay dry and hang onto your hats and umbrellas today and stay safe! I will try to update my blog sooner! A lot of new things happened over summer and very busy times!
Have a great day!

Newsletter, Classes

It has been terrible for me to get my winter newsletter completed!! First of all I want to thank all who have called and scheduled their own classes! I LOVE it!! so much that I have decided to do that until the end of summer. If there is a class you are interested in, needle felting, weaving, knitting, spinning, crocheting-please give me a call and we can set something up for you. If you organize 3 or more friends for one class, you will receive a 10% discount on the class.

Right now I am in the process of writing up a list of all the classes I offer with the cost for my newsletter and will get it up on my website ASAP.

For right now, for those of you who would like to weave but don't want to set up a loom, I have one set up to weave rugs. The cost is $10.00 a foot and all you do is simply weave. The cost includes materials. You could possibly have a rug completed in an afternoon :-).

Some of the other ideas I have for projects are done on a rigid heddle loom: tote or placemats using plastic bags. These can all be afternoon projects or completed in a short few hours.

This is also my 10th anniversary for the studio! wow, where has the time gone?! During the month of January and February anyone that has come into shop has entered their name into a basket for a drawing to take place the end of February. The basket is filled with yarn, patterns, assorted supplies, etc. -the basket was donated by Laurie Nielsen from Saukville. It is very nice!!

Also during the months of February, March and April, we will be having open knitting on Friday afternoons from 12:30 - 3. You may select any project from the magazine Knit Simple (call to have me save you a copy).

Well, I hope you are enjoying the beautiful freshly fallen snow. It really is beautiful-well, maybe not the shoveling. :-)
have a great day!

new classes using rigid heddle looms

Well, kids are all back in their respective "homes" and back at school. Daniel and Kari left yesterday~I never realized how much Kari's little Ford Focus could carry! The house is empty! I really didn't think everything would fit. Daniel came in with a smile on his face and said"well, everything is in, mom EXCEPT the rugs! and we want them along." the pictures above are the rugs i made for them using their favorite t-shirts. You know how you feel it is a good gift then as you are making it, these tho'ts come up that it is really a bad idea and they won't like it.............It really was fun to watch them open up their present and love it! They could identify each of the favorites. Before leaving, Daniel brought down a few more shirts I can cut up :-)
This got me to thinking it would make a great winter project class! so for the months of January, February, and March we will have destash and recycle months. You can schedule your own class using the rigid heddle looms or take one that is on the schedule already. Simply clean out drawers of t-shirts or old shirts and cut into 1 inch strips and weave away! It is also fun to use yarns that are left overs and weave scarves, runners, totes, etc. It is a great way to use up materials you have laying around the house, underbeds, hidden in drawers, etc............:-)

I am trying to get my newsletter on my website but am having trouble with that so if you would like to email me, I can send it to you with the new schedule. http://www.bahrcreek.com/
