I found this quote on the Kettle Lakes Coop website. The last couple of weeks my daughter, Kari, and I have been thinking about a graduation trip to Europe after she is finished with school in May. There are so many reasons to not go but..................reading the quote above, I think we will just have to make plans. Since I still have family in Germany, part of the time we will spend with them and the other week we will do some sightseeing in Austria and Switzerland. I'll keep you posted as far as plans go.

new classes using rigid heddle looms

Well, kids are all back in their respective "homes" and back at school. Daniel and Kari left yesterday~I never realized how much Kari's little Ford Focus could carry! The house is empty! I really didn't think everything would fit. Daniel came in with a smile on his face and said"well, everything is in, mom EXCEPT the rugs! and we want them along." the pictures above are the rugs i made for them using their favorite t-shirts. You know how you feel it is a good gift then as you are making it, these tho'ts come up that it is really a bad idea and they won't like it.............It really was fun to watch them open up their present and love it! They could identify each of the favorites. Before leaving, Daniel brought down a few more shirts I can cut up :-)

This got me to thinking it would make a great winter project class! so for the months of January, February, and March we will have destash and recycle months. You can schedule your own class using the rigid heddle looms or take one that is on the schedule already. Simply clean out drawers of t-shirts or old shirts and cut into 1 inch strips and weave away! It is also fun to use yarns that are left overs and weave scarves, runners, totes, etc. It is a great way to use up materials you have laying around the house, underbeds, hidden in drawers, etc............:-)

MERRY CHRISTMAS HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It really has been a long time since I last posted! I really can't believe Christmas is over and it is almost 2009! Wow, where does the time go? We had such a great Christmas with the kids home and my mom and dad here - it was a little crowded at times with 11 people in the house for a week but a lot of fun! Lots of memories were made and good times talking about the "good old days" :-) and making great memories for 2 little grandsons. They are so much fun!

The pictures are of our kids and grandkids. It has been a tradition to take pictures every year by the Christmas tree. I only wish I was organized enough to have them all in one place to look at them to see how much everyone has changed instead of in a box in a drawer :-( . Someday I will put that on my list of things to do. :-)

Some of my favorite pictures and memories are of the kids looking at the nativity set and rearranging the figures and telling the story in their own words. Christmas REALLY IS my favorite time of the year!

I got so many projects done for Christmas, it really was fun! I cleaned the kids rooms and cut apart some of their t-shirts and turned them into woven rugs. they really enjoyed seeing their favorite shirts made into something useful again. It did put smiles on their faces :-) as it reminded them of times past. In some ways it was sad to take the Christmas tree down today but know that it is time to get ready for the new year and new projects to start and finish a few of the unfinished ones.

OPEN HOUSE

It has been a while since I posted. A lot has been going on, and getting a lot of projects done and starting new ones. The Wisconsin Spin In at West Bend was a lot of fun and met many new people and lots of friends. The guild did a fantastic job putting on the event.

This week Thursday thru Saturday is our open house! We will have lots of demonstrations on needle felting, spinning, weaving, knitting, triagular loom weaving..........and of course SNACKS!! You will be able to get a few ideas for Christmas projects and gift ideas for your favorite knitter, spinner, weaver, and felter. Hope to see many of you here. It will be a fun. Hope to get some pictures posted soon.

whirlwind fall!! BEAUTIFULL!

This has been such a busy fall. We have had company for 2 weeks-my folks were here for a little over a week then my son and family (with grandkids :-) ) and Nick from Boston. It WAS a lot of fun having everyone here. I actually got a lot of things done outside when having the grandkids here and watching them. Even got some windows washed and flowers and bulbs planted!

now with everyone back at home, I can get back to knitting and catching up in the shop. BUT it was so nice having everyone here. I hope the pictures load on this blog (my computer is so slow!) Living on the farm of course things break down more than you would like but it was so cute to see Lucas and Matthew try to help grandpa fix the chopper :-) they are big helpers and they love being on the farm. At one point I was looking around for them and they were on the barn floor jumping down a stack of hay and having fun doing it!! It makes me miss the time when my kids were little. Have to smile. I do like them the ages they are now, tho.

The top photo is our early morning coffee time on the porch. I am going to miss this when the weather gets colder. It is such a beautiful, quiet spot. Well, back to work. Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall day.

busy fall

It has been a long time since I entered anything on my blog. It has been a crazy month-but fun. A lot of changes-my oldest son and family (my 2 little grandsons :-( ) moved 1hour 45 minutes north of here. we will really miss seeing them as often!! But at least it wasn't across the country like some grandparents' kids move.

I finally finished my newsletter with new class schedule. www.bahrcreek.com then click on newsletter link. In addition to the classes listed there will be a new class, which isn't listed in the newsletter - toe up socks -watch for the time and date of the class. There are still openings for the classes listed.

I hope everyone is enjoying the crisp fall weather. I LOVE this season!! We are going to visit our son in Door County this Sunday and will enjoy seeing the colorful leaves!

Wow, it has been a very busy September! The Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival was awesome -as usual! I taught 2 classes there and they were so much fun and every one's project turned out so cool!!! This year the weather was PERFECT!

This weekend we will be at Rivers'Edge Nature center in Saukville. I will be demonstrating spinning and Amy will make some felted soaps with any children who would like to make them.
